“Canonical Models for Large Molecules”

This is a Pistoia Alliance teleconference – to present and discuss in more depth topics emanating from the Hannover Information Ecosystem Workshop – which will take place on Thursday 26th January 2012 at:

(07:00 to 08:00 - PST) (10:00 to 11:00 - EST) (15:00 to 16:00 GMT) (16:00 to 17:00 CET)

David Klatte of Pfizer, along with his colleague Tianhong Zhang, have very kindly agreed to lead a teleconference presentation/discussion on Topic #7 "Canonical Models for Large Molecules" where they will elaborate current thinking on this increasingly important challenge. Key points include that:

“Pfizer has internally developed a notation system for describing many classes of large molecules that is intuitive to scientists, computer readable, and canonicalizable.

This notation system could serve a purpose similar to that of a MOL or SD file in the small molecule space.

It is proposed that the Pistoia Alliance considers this for adoption as a standard for data interchange between pharma, CROs, and other data and software vendors.

This presentation will explain and demonstrate the notation system as well as some internally developed software tools that use the notation system.”
